Frequently Asked Questions

What is the first ingredient in Purina Pro Plan Adult Essential Health Large Breed?

Chicken is the first ingredient in Purina Pro Plan Adult Essential Health Large Breed Dry Dog Food, with dehydrated chicken as a natural source of glucosamine for joint support, followed by brewers rice, whole grain wheat, oats and barley.

Why does a large breed dog need a different food?

Large dogs carry more weight on their joints and are prone to weight gain, so this recipe is formulated with glucosamine from chicken and a calorie level suited to a large adult's slower metabolism, in a larger kibble.

Is Pro Plan Essential Health Large Breed grain free?

No. It includes rice, wheat, oats and barley.

How much should I feed?

Feed by age, weight and activity using the pack guide, adjusting to keep a lean body condition. Always provide fresh water.

From what age can I feed it?

From about 18 months, when a large breed has finished growing, transitioning over 7 to 10 days from a large breed puppy food.
