Fish Tank Essentials — Water Care, Testing & Aeration
Set your aquarium up for crystal-clear, stable water with trusted Tetra helpers. This collection brings together tap-water conditioners, beneficial bacteria starters, algae & nutrient control, plant fertiliser, test kits and airstones—the simple tools that keep fish comfortable and filters happy.
What’s in this collection
- Water prep: AquaSafe (Goldfish) to neutralise chlorine/chloramine and protect fins & gills.
- Bio kick-start: SafeStart to seed filters with beneficial bacteria after setup or big water changes.
- Stability helpers: EasyBalance for ongoing pH/kh support and fewer mid-week tweaks.
- Nutrient & algae control: NitrateMinus to lower nitrate; AlguMin to curb common algae.
- Plant care: PlantaMin liquid fertiliser for lush, healthy leaves in planted tanks.
- Water testing: Individual tests for pH, nitrite (NO₂), nitrate (NO₃) and ammonia (strips) to catch issues early.
- Aeration: Airstones (Tetratec & Tetrapond AS50) to boost oxygen and keep water moving.
Quick setup routine
- Condition: Treat new tap water with AquaSafe before it reaches the tank.
- Seed: Add SafeStart to support your biofilter (after filter clean or new setups).
- Balance: Use EasyBalance weekly as directed to help stabilise parameters.
- Test weekly: pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate—adjust maintenance based on results.
- Control nutrients: Dose NitrateMinus if NO₃ rises; use AlguMin if algae appears.
Planted tank tips
- Fertilise: Dose PlantaMin regularly; trim old growth to direct nutrients to new leaves.
- Light: Keep a consistent photoperiod (generally 6–8 hours to start) to limit algae.
Aeration & hardware
- Right size airstone: Match stone length to tank size; place near the back for tidy bubbles.
- Use a check valve: Prevents back-siphon into your air pump during outages.
Care & storage
- Shake liquids before use; cap tightly; store cool, dry and dark.
- Only dose per label instructions; more is not better—retest before re-dosing.
Use filters to choose by function and price. Add a conditioner, bacteria starter, a test kit and (if needed) algae/nitrate control—then enjoy clearer water and calmer fish with less fuss.
