Citrus fibre and beet pulp support digestive health, while freeze-dried melon juice provides antioxidant protection. The high taurine content (0.2%) supports tissue repair and heart health. Yes. Karoo Adult and Trout cat food formulas include dietary, insoluble cellulose which may assist in reducing the severity of hairballs, particularly in long-haired cats. The cellulose helps move ingested hair through the digestive tract more efficiently, reducing the formation of hairballs. It delivers 35% protein from duck and lamb with only 12% fat and just 10% glycaemic carbohydrates - significantly lower than the standard adult formula. L-carnitine stimulates the conversion of fat into energy, supporting a healthy metabolism. A high-fibre blend of psyllium husks, pea fibre, beet pulp, inulin, and cellulose provides satiety and accelerates intestinal transit. The formula also supports cardiac health through whole egg powder providing heart-healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Available in 2kg and 4kg bags.

The Karoo Trout formula is a hypoallergenic, limited-ingredient cat food designed for cats with food sensitivities. It features trout and lamb as primary proteins at 30% crude protein, with a gluten-free formulation that reduces the impact of digestive disorders and skin sensitivities. Key differentiators include lower dietary magnesium (0.09%) to maintain reduced urinary pH and lower the risk of struvite crystals, omega-6 and omega-3 encapsulated fatty acids for stool odour reduction, citrus fibre and beet pulp for balanced gut microbiome, and freeze-dried melon juice for antioxidant cell protection. Yes. Karoo offers super-premium, limited-ingredient wet food for adult cats in 150g portions. The wet food features slow-cooked stews with real meat proteins including chicken, lamb, and ostrich combinations, providing a complete, ready-to-serve meal or a tasty complement to Karoo dry food. Wet food is grain-free, soya-free, and gluten-free, with taurine added for heart and eye health. Mixing wet and dry food is a great way to add variety to your cat's diet while increasing hydration, which is especially important for cats who may not drink enough water on their own.

Transition gradually over 7 to 10 days. During days 1 to 3, mix 25% Karoo with 75% of your cat's current food. From days 4 to 6, move to a 50/50 blend. During days 7 to 9, increase to 75% Karoo and 25% current food. By day 10, your cat should be on 100% Karoo. Cats can be particularly fussy about food changes, so patience is key. If your cat is reluctant, try warming the food slightly to release the aroma, or mix in a small amount of Karoo wet food with the dry food to encourage acceptance. Always ensure fresh water is available.

Feeding amounts depend on your cat's weight and activity level. As a guide for Karoo Adult, a cat weighing 2 to 3kg with moderate activity needs approximately 35 to 45g of dry food per day, while a 4 to 5kg cat needs about 55 to 70g per day. Highly active cats may need up to 85g per day for the 4 to 5kg weight range. For kittens, Karoo Kitten provides a specific feeding guide by age: 20 to 50g per day from 1 to 3 months, 35 to 60g from 3 to 6 months, and 30 to 65g from 6 to 12 months. Adjust portions based on your cat's body condition and consult your vet if unsure.
